Animal Science Classes
We had so much fun in our Fall Session we decided to have a Winter Session (January - February 2025) and Spring Session (April - May 2025).
Each session is taught by Patty Pantelione, owner of Painted Bay Farm LLC, who retired from teaching after 32 years in the NJ Public School system with the New Jersey Teacher of Science Certification grades K-12. Patty has been involved in the Rutgers 4-H program for over 40 years as a member and 4-H leader. She is currently the leader of the Atlantic County 4-H Mini Whinnies Horse Club.
Interested in attending our winter session? Have additional questions? Contact us with your questions. Contact us if you would like to visit the farm, meet the animals, and instructor.
All topics are adapted to the age and abilities of the participants. Here are a few examples:
How are different types of animals adapted to survive the winter? How do we adapt our techniques on the farm to help the animals adapt to their needs during winter?
How digestion works, compare/contrast digestion in different types of animals. Did you know a goat has “4 stomachs” how does that work?
Skeletons! How do they work. Compare and contrast the skeletons of different types of animals.
Some of our goats have horns. Why don’t the other goats have horns? Deer have antlers. What is the difference between horns and antlers?
